Good news for beer-thirsty Washingtonians. A new brewery is set to open in the District, reports DCBeer.com.
3 Stars Brewing Company is a "production craft brewery focused on bringing quality, fresh, locally brewed beers to the greater D.C. area,” said Dave Coleman, who is opening the brewery with Mike McGarvey.
Coleman isn't new to the D.C. beer scene. He has worked behind the bar at The Big Hunt, one of the oldest beer bars in the District.
He and McGarvey are making sure their brewery is as serious about beer as they are. 3 Stars will produce beer year-round, including seasonal brews such as stouts, saisons and porters. Their flagship IPA will be a "highly hopped yet easy-drinking IPA, hovering in the seven percent range," Coleman told DCBeer, "with a strong hop nose and a smooth back finish."
3 Stars doesn't have a home in the city yet, but Coleman and McGarvey hope to open in late spring or early summer 2011. So we just hope you're not too beer-thirsty, since you're still facing a bit of a wait.
