Metro leaders have scheduled an early Thursday morning meeting to talk about the Red Line train derailment that disrupted service downtown for hours last Monday.

Cracked rails may not be uncommon in transit systems, but the one in the area where a train derailed Monday morning was unusual for Metro.

A Red Line train headed to downtown D.C. went off of the tracks Monday morning between Farragut North and Metro Center. News4’s Darcy Spencer reports Tuesday morning riders will face delays.

News4’s Derrick Ward spoke with several passengers who were forced to evacuate a Red Line train after it derailed between Farragut North and Metro Center Monday morning.

Normal service has resumed after a Metro train derailed in Washington, D.C. early Monday, forcing 63 people to walk through a tunnel for the length of two football fields and disrupting train service downtown for hours.
