Prince William County’s chapter of 100 Black Women works to empower Black girls in their Leader in Me and Financial Literacy mentorship program. A recent study shows that schools punish Black girls more frequently and harshly. Because of that, the program aims to lift their self-esteems. News4’s Molette Green reports. 

October is LGBT History Month, a time to honor a community often under attack. The I Am Awards this weekend at MGM National Harbor will celebrate shining stars in the local queer community. Ts Madison and Speak Out founder Antonio Driver share why there’s a need for this kind of recognition.

“The Napkin Network” is ran by Lindsay Gill, a local mom in Montgomery County, where she donates baby supplies to underserved neighborhoods. She is now asking for clothing and shoe donations for kids ages 5 to 7 years old after local schools said there’s a need for them. News4’s Molette Green reports.
