The Redskins joined the community for the Prince George's County Kidney Walk to raise money and awareness for the disease.

Dr. Jeff Perlmutter put on his walking shoes for the event.

"If a member of your family has kidney disease or you have high blood pressure or diabetes, it's a good idea to make sure you see a doctor so that  you can get screened early," said Perlmutter. "If kidney disease is detected early, there are treatments that can prevent it from getting to the point of needing dialysis or a transplant."

Others carried signs in support of a family member or friend dealing with kidney disease. The walk was sponsored by the National Kidney Foundation, with the purpose of raising money and awareness.

D.C. has the highest rate of kidney disease in the nation.
