Two Prince William County schools have lifted a "secure the building" status Wednesday morning that was issued as police searched for a robbery suspect in the area.

Prince William County police said they secured the area at about 8 a.m. while investigating a robbery that occurred at a home near one of the schools.

Everyone is safe, said a message on the websites of Rippon Middle School and Featherstone Elementary School in Woodbridge, Va. The schools posted shortly before 9:15 a.m. that the "secure the building" status had been lifted.

"The schools were advised of the incident as usual practice and took necessary precautions," police said in a release.
