A man was charged with a misdemeanor after Transportation Security Administration officers found a loaded gun in his carry-on luggage at National Airport on Friday.
TSA officers say they spotted the 9mm semi-automatic handgun as the man's bag passed through the X-ray machine.
Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority Police responded to the scene and confiscated the gun, as well as ammunition and a magazine.
The man, who did not have a concealed weapons permit, received a citation. He was allowed to continue his trip to Dallas without the gun.
There was no impact to airport operations, the TSA said in a press release.
