Police in Montgomery County are looking for suspects in two bank robberies that happened just blocks away from each other and about an hour apart in Rockville, Md. News4's Pat Collins reports.
No one was injured when a suspect shot into the ceiling of a bank during an attempted robbery Tuesday.
Around 11 a.m. police were called to Wells Fargo Bank, 110 Congressional Lane for a robbery. Montgomery County Police said two suspects entered the bank, and demanded money from the bank teller. One suspect vaulted the counter while the other fired a shot from a handgun into the ceiling. Both suspects then fled the scene without any money and no one was injured.
A little over an hour prior to that incident, police responded to SunTrust Bank, 1475 Rockville Pike, also for a bank robbery. In that case, police say a teller was opening the satellite drive-thru of the bank when he was approached by a man with a handgun. The suspect demanded cash and after the teller gave it to him, he fled the scene in a car.
Montgomery County Police say they do not think the two incidents are related.
