A child pornography probe that began in February has led to a 16-year-old Prince William County, Va., boy.
A Manassas police officer worked with the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force following a tip from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. They discovered numerous images of child pornography had been sent from the e-mail address firstname.lastname@example.org and tracked that to a 16-year-old who lives in Triangle.
Manassas police seized a computer and thumb drives from his home earlier this month. Police have not said whether the teen has been charged.
The number of these cases is growing, said Michelle Collins, of the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, and investigators are seeing more cases involving adolescent suspects.
Collins reminded parents to be aware of what their children are accessing online.
