Donovan's two-home compound was built in 2007 and 2008. According to public records, the star forward picked up the pad back in 2007 for $2.618 million. Donovan had briefly listed the Manhattan Beach spread two years ago for $4.75 million.

The amazing compound boasts a grotto-like pool and spa. As you can see, the swimming pool even features a waterfall. Donovan has played with the Los Angeles Galaxy since 2005. We imagine this is a pretty sweet place to return to after a game.

The main house, which spans over 5,700 square feet, is rustic Mediterranean in style and boasts 11-foot ceilings. Here's a view of the gourmet kitchen that comes with a gigantic center island, wood cabinetry, butler's pantry, and dining space. There's also an outdoor dining room accessible via the kitchen.

While the main house includes all of the living spaces like the five bedrooms and 6.5 baths, the lower home features all of the fun toys. In the lower house, you'll find this sauna, along with a massage room, steam bath, jacuzzi, home theater and 300 bottle-wine cellar.

According to the Los Angeles Times, Donovan has been named the U.S. Soccer Athlete of the Year four consecutive times by the United States Soccer Federation. It's no wonder the superstar can enjoy (and afford) digs of this caliber.

Tucked downstairs of the second home is this high-end home theater. The lower level also hosts the 300-bottle wine cellar.

Perhaps this swimming grotto persuaded the now-owners of the pad to extend an official offer to Donovan after just two weeks on the market.
