Teen Boy Charged in Death of 19-Year-Old Front Royal Woman

A 17-year-old boy has been charged in the death of a 19-year-old woman in Front Royal, Virginia on Saturday, officials say.

When officers arrived in the 100 block of Kerfoot Avenue about 8:30 p.m. Saturday, they found Leah Marie Adams, 19, suffering from serious injuries. She was taken to a hospital, where she died.

A 17-year-old boy suffered minor injuries and was taken to a hospital as well. He was later taken into custody and charged with second-degree murder in connection with Adams’ death.

Investigators found Adams’ vehicle, which had sustained some damage. However, they said the injuries Adams suffered “were not consistent with trauma sustained as the result of a vehicle crash or hit-and-run.”

Police also discovered that Adams and the teen were involved in some type of confrontation in the roadway prior to police being called. Police did not release any details on how the death occurred.

Adams was a student at Lord Fairfax Community College.

"We at LFCC are deeply saddened by the sudden passing of one of our students, and offer our condolences to Ms. Adams's family, friends and fellow students," a statement from the school said.
