WMATA reported a brake problem with a Metrorail train Wednesday during rush hour that technicians were not able to resolve for over an hour.
Using one of its newly-announced Twitter handles, Metro notified riders of the malfunction just before 6 p.m. The disabled train was moving again about 90 minutes later.
According to a news release from Metro, the Orange Line train remained disabled outside the Clarendon station, causing significant delays during rush hour.
Many riders took their frustration with Metro on Twitter, describing packed platforms and prolonged commutes.
Orange Line trains single tracked between Foggy Bottom and Clarendon and Blue Line trains single tracked between Foggy Bottom and Arlington Ceremony.
Metro is advising passengers use the Yellow Line to and from Virginia to avoid delays.
