Robert Griffin III scared quite a few folks Sunday when he left the Redskins' 24-17 loss to the Atlanta Falcons with a "mild concussion." Did I say "a few folks"? I'm sorry. I meant the entire population of Washington, D.C., and its surrounding areas.
RGIII, however, tweeted Sunday evening that he is "ok" and could be ready to play next Sunday against the Minnesota Vikings.
"Thank you for all the prayers & support I'm ok and I think after all the testing I will play next week," he said in the tweet.
Griffin suffered the concussion after taking a shoulder-to-the-head hit from Falcons linebacker Sean Weatherspoon as he attempted to scramble. Griffin left the game and did not return, which forced Kirk Cousins to make his NFL regular-season debut. Cousins finished with one touchdown and two interceptions.
Of course, Griffin being able to tweet at all is a good sign, but let's leave the decision to play up to the doctors. RGIII was cleared to return home after the game and he will continue to be evaluated throughout the week.
