Washington's historic Watergate Hotel will soon be open again after a $125 million renovation, and local dignitaries will be on hand for a ceremony as construction draws to a close.
District of Columbia Mayor Muriel Bowser will be among those in attendance at a "topping off'' ceremony Thursday at the hotel's new grand ballroom. The event will also feature access to the hotel's new 12th-floor rooftop, which offers panoramic views of the Potomac River.
The Watergate Hotel is scheduled to reopen this summer. It's been closed for 12 years.
The Watergate complex is best-known as the site of a 1972 break-in at the Democratic National Committee headquarters and subsequent cover-up that led to President Richard Nixon's resignation.
