A woman says she was robbed on her way to church by someone who was pretending to be a police officer.
The 39-year-old woman was being followed by a man, who honked his horn, pulled up to her and motioned for her to stop her car just before noon near St. Camillus Church in Silver Spring, Md., police said. He flashed a badge, demanded the woman's license and registration, and made her sit on a curb while he went through her car.
The man took the woman’s purse and cell phone, police said.
The woman was not hurt.
Police have released a composite sketch of the man. He's described as black, 26-27 years of age, about 5-foot-10 and 190 pounds. He had short, curly hair and tattoos on both arms and wore a black baseball hat with a police badge emblem, a black vest like a police vest with a silver badge attached, black cargo pants and black boots. He drove a small, black compact car with blue Maryland tags.
The man did not use a siren or flash police lights.
