D.C. Mayoral Candidates Meet in Forum

The top three candidates to be Washington, D.C.'s mayor met for a forum Wednesday ahead of next month's election.

Wednesday's forum, hosted by News4 and The Washington Post, streamed online at 12:30 p.m. It will be broadcast on News4 at 11:30 a.m. Sunday.

D.C. Councilmember Muriel Bowser is the Democratic mayoral nominee. She defeated Mayor Vincent Gray in the April 1 primary. A non-Democrat has never been elected mayor in the District of Columbia, where three out of four registered voters are Democrats.

However, polls have suggested this could be the most competitive race for mayor since 1994, when Marion Barry won a fourth term. Independent D.C. Councilmember David Catania and former councilmember Carol Schwartz, also an independent, are challenging Bowser.
