Jewelry Store Employee Accused of Setting Up Robbery

A woman is accused of setting up a robbery last week at a Manassas jewelry store where she worked.

According to police, Reem Awwad, an employee at DMV Gold and Jewelry Exchange, told officers an unknown man entered the store and displayed a knife. She also reported the suspect assaulted her before fleeing the store with money and jewelry.

Officials later determined Awwad, 20, of Alexandria, set up the robbery and knew the suspect, who was police identifed as John Ransom Jr.

Both Ransom, 24, and Awwad were arrested. Awwad faces two counts of grand larceny and one count of filing a false police report.
