Vienna Crime Roundup

Cat bites, street fights

There are crime reports, and then there are crime reports from Vienna, Va.

Few municipalities release the kind of clearinghouse of recent criminal activity that the Vienna Police Department does. The town puts out a "Vienna Police Highlights" report every Friday that's a rundown of "various incidents of general interest."

We'll say.

We'll be sharing the highlights (and lowlights) of the report each week.  Here's a sampling from this week's report:

Animal Bite 12-10001
600 Block Meadow Lane, SW
July 05 12:00 p.m.
A resident reported that her cat had bit her while she was trying to groom it. ACO Barker explained the quarantine process and she agreed to quarantine the cat at home.

ACO Barker will follow up with this case at the end of the quarantine period.

Domestic Dispute 12-09862
600 Block John Marshall Road, NE
July 06 1:59 p.m.
A resident reported that a mother and her son, who also live at the residence, were having a loud argument in the street.

Officer Tremont spoke with both the mother and her son who agreed that they had been arguing, however, it never became physical and both had calmed down.

Civil Dispute 12-09896
100 Block Oakmont Court, NE
July 07 3:51 p.m.
A resident reported that while she traveled out of the country she let an unknown woman house sit and care for her dog. Now that she is back she would like the woman to leave. The woman told the homeowner she had nowhere to go and refuses to leave.

MPO Burchfield informed the homeowner that since she allowed the woman to stay in her house, she would now have to follow the eviction process to have her removed.

Domestic Dispute 12-09940
800 Block Meadow Lane, SW
July 09 12:50 a.m.
A citizen reported that two (2) individuals were arguing and fighting in the street.
MPO Sheeran arrived and located the driver of a van who told him that she and her two (2) sons had been driving all day from Michigan and that they got into an argument and starting pushing each other.

She told MPO Sheeran that she left the older son out of the van to cool off. MPO Sheeran spoke with both sons who confirmed their mother’s statements.

There were no signs that the argument had turned physical.
