Gray Visits NYC to Woo TV Producers

Industry Officials Have Said It's Too Difficult to Film Here

Mayor Vincent Gray is in New York today, trying to get more TV shows filmed here in the District. The mayor will spend time courting TV producers.

He has proposed a tax on movie theater concessions as a way to help build a film incentives fund -- a little contradictory, sure.

In the past, industry officials have said it's too difficult to film here. Between Capitol Hill, the National Park Service and the District, planners have to work with three different police agencies to secure permits.

In October, Julia Louis-Dreyfuss spent time here shooting for her new HBO show "Veep," and scenes for the latest Bourne movie were shot around town on Nov. 18.
