Under Armour Warehouse to Employ 1,000 at Steel Mill Site

DUNDALK, Md. (AP) โ€” Under Armour is planning to open a distribution warehouse at the site of a former steel mill east of Baltimore.

According to The Baltimore Sun, (http://tinyurl.com/jt77kfa) the Baltimore-based sports apparel company will employ 1,000 people at the 1.3 million-square-foot plant. Itโ€™s scheduled to open in the summer of 2018.

Under Armour already has a distribution hub in Baltimore that employs 1,200 people. The new warehouse will serve as the companyโ€™s national hub to fulfill online orders.

The location on the Sparrows Point peninsula was once home to the Bethlehem Steel mill. Under Armourโ€™s vice president of corporate real estate, Neil Jurgens, says the company chose Sparrows Point over sites in Tennessee, Indiana and Ohio. Jurgens says the site fits with the companyโ€™s blue-collar culture.
