Police Identify Herndon Man Killed in Standoff

WASHINGTON — Police have identified the Herndon man who was shot and killed by officers following a hostage standoff and house fire on Monday afternoon.

Mohammad Azim Doudzai, 32, was shot outside the Covered Wagon Lane town house where he lived after police had attempted to disarm him with rubber bullets and a stun gun.

Fairfax County police said that Doudzai shot two men, who were identified as brothers, during a fight at the town house. The brothers left to seek treatment at the hospital and the Doudzai took a third person hostage and set the home ablaze.
