Joan Rivers' family confirmed that the comedian is on life support after going into cardiac arrest last week during a procedure at a doctor's office.

In a statement released Tuesday, Rivers' daughter Melissa said that her mother is on life support "at this time," and thanked the public for their ongoing support. Melissa added the family is extremely grateful for the public support they have received.

Rivers stopped breathing while undergoing a minor throat procedure Aug. 28 in New York City. She was taken to the hospital, where she was placed in a medically induced coma.

Melissa Rivers flew across the country the same day with her son, Cooper, to be by the "Fashion Police" host's side.

The insider added, "She's focused on one thing: Her mother's health."

Joan Rivers remains in stable, yet critical, condition. On Sunday, Melissa thanked fans for all their prayers and well wishes. "Thank you for your continued love and support," she said in a statement. "We are keeping our fingers crossed.

"E! will be airing two E! From Fashion Week specials that will deliver the latest news and information from the highly-anticipated event."
