A 76-year-old man is facing an arson charge in connection with a fire that killed his wife at their northwest Washington home.

Fire crews were called to the three-story row home in the the 4600 block of 4th Street NW just before 6 a.m. Feb. 13 for a report of a fire. Once the fire was extinguished, firefighters found 80-year-old Lucille Proctor unconscious on the second floor of the home. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Police say her husband, Robert Procter, was taken into custody Tuesday. He has been charged with arson.
