Police in Montgomery County have identified the victim of a fatal hit-and-run accident in Rockville.
Investigators say that 24-year-old Alonso Rodriguez of Bethesda was struck and killed by a vehicle early Saturday morning.
It happened on Norbeck Road, east of Westbury Road. Police were called to the scene shortly before 3:30 a.m. by another motorist, who found Rodriguez's body in the eastbound lanes.
Investigators believe that Rodriguez had been socializing with two friends, a man and a woman, on Friday night into Saturday morning. Authorities say that the vehicle Rodriguez was traveling in let him out on Norbeck Road, near the spot where he was found, at around 2:20 a.m.
Anyone with information about the accident is asked to call the Montgomery County Police Collision Reconstruction Unit at (301) 840-2435. Police are specifically interested in speaking to anyone who was traveling along Norbeck Road between Bel Pre and Muncaster Mill roads between approximately 2:20 a.m. and 3:24 a.m. Saturday.
