D.C. Police are searching for suspects after a mother's car was stolen in front of her home -- with her baby inside.

It happened at approximately 7:19 a.m. Thursday near North Capitol Street and P Street in Northeast Washington.

The woman ran back inside her home, leaving her SUV running with her one-year-old in the back, police said. She returned when she heard someone pulling off in her car.

The thief ditched the car a few blocks away in the 200 block of N Street in Northwest behind Dunbar High School, police said.

The baby was found safe inside, but was taken to the hospital as a precaution, police said. The infant is back at home.

The suspects wanted in connection with this case have not been identified, but DC Police have released these photos of possible persons of interest taken from cameras behind the school and on the block.

Anyone with information about this case is asked to call police at (202) 727-9099 or 1-888-919-CRIME (1-888-919-2746). Anonymous information may also be forwarded to D.C. Crime Solvers at 1-866-411-TIPS, or to the department’s TEXT TIP LINE by text messaging 50411.
