A candidate for D.C.'s Advisory Neighborhood Commission was arrested Tuesday for allegedly assaulting a man outside a polling place.

Grace Daughtridge allegedly tackled a man in his 40s outside the King Greenleaf Recreation Center in Southwest around 11:15 a.m., claiming he was tampering with some of her campaign signs.

A police report claims that she continued to yell homophobic slurs at the man as he entered the recreation center, reports News4's Pat Collins.

Daughtridge is a candidate for ANC 6D05 Commissioner, which serves part of Ward 6. She and the man apparently knew each other before the incident, Collins said.

Daughtridge was handcuffed by police and charged with simple assault.
