The intersection of Route 118 and Middlebrook Road in Germantown was closed to traffic for hours following a deadly crash early Friday morning between a car and a dump truck.

It happened just after 1a.m. The dump truck was traveling north on Germantown Road and had a flashing yellow light.

The car was going west on Middlebrook and had a flashing red light. Police said the driver of the car failed to yield and drove into the path of the dump truck.

The driver of the car, 18-year-old Ivar Candia, was killed. Two passengers, 17-year-old Jonathan Candia and 33-year-old Rodolfo Nogales, were injured.

The driver of the dump truck was not hurt.

The intersection reopened at about 8 a.m.
