Walking into Tabaq Bistro is stepping into a scene straight out of Sex and the City… a Mediterranean city, that is. This Middle Eastern-inspired lounge, located on the popular U Street strip, has the smoothest blend of romance and culture to offer customers quite the exotic dining experience.
Four stories high and overlooking the Capitol dome and the Washington Monument
in the distance, Tabaq draws in customers with its glass rooftop dining area. When the weather warms, the ceiling opens up to welcome the balmy night sky as you dine by candlelight with your beau or bff.
Three other floors offer three other dining rooms, each with its own swanky décor and accommodations for sit-down dinners, cocktails, or hors d’oeuvres. The red room features a full bar and an area for live entertainment, while the art/media room offers a more intimate scene with a brilliant view of the pulsating U Street. The cozy space of the lounge attracts many customers for its private entrance from the street level and convenient access to bathrooms (because when you gotta go, you gotta go).
This chic atmosphere is coupled with a variety of festive dishes that are sure to arouse the taste buds. Take your pick from 40 small dishes of classic tapas or jump head first into an entrée of beef medallion, salmon shank or adana kebab.
Not up for a dinnertime rendezvous? Mosey on in Saturdays and Sundays between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. to take in an extensive brunch menu.
While these dishes may be Mediterranean inspired, you probably don't want the local sea as your beverage to wash down your meal. Lucky for you, Tabaq offers a wine list that features wines from all over the world, with a special selection from the Mediterranean region -- not the sea.
Cocktail fanatics can enjoy signature martinis every night of the week and one free drink in the Red Room bar during happy hours Tuesday through Saturday from 5-6 p.m.
With such an interesting and seductive flare in dining, drinks and décor, Tabaq Bistro is one of the best places to be in D.C.
