The Ravens traded away tackle Orlando Brown to the Chiefs on Friday, giving Kansas City some much-needed protection for Patrick Mahomes.
As it turns out, the Washington Football Team considered making a move for Brown as well.

According to ESPN's John Keim, the Burgundy and Gold "did have discussions" about acquiring the offensive lineman.
However, Ron Rivera and the club concluded that the price to land Brown (the Chiefs gave up their first-rounder in the upcoming draft plus a few additional selections) as well as the hefty contract that Brown is set to earn shortly (he has one year left on his rookie deal) were both prohibitive when it came to truly pursuing him, per Keim.
At the very least, the reported interest in Brown could give a hint to what Washington is thinking about in terms of their plans for their 19th overall pick, which they will use this Thursday barring any sort of swap.
The expectation is that a few O-linemen should be on the board when it's time for Rivera's squad to turn in their card and if they somewhat explored grabbing the ex-Raven, that would imply that they view tackle as a major priority.
Currently, Cornelius Lucas looks like the favorite to start on the left side, with other options such as Geron Christian and Saahdiq Charles on the roster, too.
Clearly, Brown won't be joining that group, but maybe another premium player will be in a few short days.
