Stephen Jackson says former Washington and current Eagles WR DeSean Jackson was โ€˜speaking the truth' in post

In a now-deleted Instagram video on Tuesday, former NBA player Stephen Jackson defended former Washington, D.C., NFL team and current Eagles wide receiver DeSean Jackson for an anti-Semitic quote that was posted to his own Instagram earlier in the day.

DeSean Jackson has since apologized for the passage, which was inaccurately attributed to Adolf Hitler. The Eagles released a statement condemning the message and Jackson's actions.

Stephen Jackson, however, says DeSean was "speaking the truth."

"So I just read a statement that the Philadelphia Eagles posted regarding DeSean Jackson's comments. He was trying to educate himself, educate people, and he's speaking the truth. Right? He's speaking the truth," Jackson said in the video. "You know he don't hate nobody, but he's speaking the truth of the facts that he knows and trying to educate others.

"But y'all don't want us to educate ourselves. If it's talking about the Black race, y'all ain't saying nothing about it. They killing us, police killing us and treating us like s---, racism at an all-time high, but ain't none of you NFL owners spoke up on that, ain't none of you teams spoke up on that. But the same team had a receiver [Riley Cooper] who said the word n----- publicly. They gave him an extension. I play for the BIG3. We have a Jewish owner. He understands where we stand and some of the things we say, but it's not directed to him. It's the way we've been treated."

Jackson, who played 14 seasons in the NBA and now plays in the BIG3 basketball league, has taken an active role in the fight for social justice since George Floyd was killed by a white police officer in Minneapolis. Jackson was a friend of Floyd's and has been one of the more visible faces at protests.

In another Instagram post, he seems to further his stance on the DeSean Jackson sitatuion.

"Your races pain doesn't hurt more than the next races pain. Don't act like your hardships or more devastating then ours. And u wonder why we fighting for equality. Common sense ain't common. Truth Hurts. Never waste time explaining to people who never supported u anyway. Free Game," the post read.
