Ravens Get Revenge, Stomp on Titans' Logo in Wild Card Win

Ravens get revenge, stomp on Titans' logo in Wild Card win originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

In the end, it seemed fitting the Ravens' defense was the unit to make the big play.

With a Marcus Peters interception with just under two minutes to play, the Ravens put the game away to win their first playoff game since Jan. 3, 2015. The Ravens couldn't control their emotions, as they ran straight to midfield to dance all over the Titans logo — just like the Titans did in last year's playoffs and in November's matchup.

In a 20-13 win over the Titans in Nashville, the Ravens got their revenge, Lamar Jackson got his first playoff win in the NFL and they totally shut down one of the league's best offense.

In total, Derrick Henry registered just 40 yards on 18 carries (2.2 yards per carry) and quarterback Ryan Tannehill to 165 yards passing.

With a little over four minutes remaining, the Ravens thought they had a fourth down conversion to ice the game when Jackson completed a pass to running back J.K. Dobbins, but a pass interference call on Willie Snead nullified the first down and forced Justin Tucker to kick a 51-yard field goal.

That didn't matter, as Peters' interception put things away in more fitting fashion.

Jackson, with 136 yards rushing, became the second quarterback (the other Colin Kaepernick) to rush for more than 100 yards in a playoff game twice. He's just the sixth ever quarterback to do so in league history.

Baltimore began the second half with a masterful drive that lasted just shy of six minutes and ended with a touchdown from Dobbins, who finished with 43 yards on nine carries.

The Ravens were sparked by Jackson’s electrifying 48 yard touchdown run in the second quarter to tie the game, as he turned a play that looked like a sack into the highlight of the playoffs thus far. When it looked like there was no angle for Jackson to run through,

Henry ran for just 18 yards on 10 carries in the first quarter as the Ravens’ defensive front certainly came to play. Notably, outside linebacker Pernell McPhee played perhaps his best game as a Raven since he returned in 2019 as he affected run and pass plays all afternoon.

The Ravens will play the Bills or the Chiefs next week in the Divisional Round of the playoffs. If the Steelers win Sunday night over the Browns, they’ll face the Bills. If the Browns beat the Steelers, the Ravens will face the Chiefs.
