MLB Announces Makeup Dates for Nationals-Mets Opening Weekend Series

MLB announces makeup dates for Nationals-Mets Opening Weekend series originally appeared on NBC Sports Washington

Major League Baseball announced on Wednesday makeup dates for the Nationals-Mets Opening Weekend series, with two of the three games now slated for June.

The first game that was supposed to open the Nats' season on April 1 will now be played as the second of a doubleheader on June 19. The second makeup game originally scheduled for April 2 is now scheduled for June 28, which was originally a rest day. Lastly, the third game of the series will be played on Sept. 4, making that another doubleheader for the Nats and Mets.

The Sept. 4 meeting will be an intriguing one not only because it's now a part of a five-game series between the NL East rivals, but it's also the time of year when playoff races will be heating up.

The start times for the scheduled doubleheaders on both June 19 and Sept. 4 will be 1:05 p.m. for the first game and 6:05 p.m. for the second. The June 28 game will be played starting at 7:05 p.m.

This likely won't be the last schedule rearrangement that the Nats will have to deal with this season. All makeup games will be played at Nationals Park.
