The Baltimore Orioles are in the midst of a rough 2021 season as the team is heading towards another losing record with triple-digit losses. However, there have been some bright spots this year, and that's seeing the young talent make their way to the major league roster.

One of the players that the organization will count on to help turn the fortunes around as they proceed into the future is left-fielder Ryan Mountcastle. The 24-year-old is batting .261 with 29 home runs and 81 RBI in his rookie season.

Thursday against the Yankees, Mountcastle hit his 29th home run on the season, breaking the Orioles rookie record set by Cal Ripken Jr.  The Orioles legend went on Twitter to congratulate Mountcastle.

"Congratulations to Ryan on setting the new O's rookie home run record," Ripken Jr. said. "He's a dynamic player. I wish him nothing but the best and excited to watch him in the years to come. All Orioles fans should be excited that he's on our team."

Mountcastle will be able to use the few remaining games in the regular season to pad his new rookie home run record before he and the Orioles turn the page and look towards 2022.
