Nats Still in Teixeira Hunt After Red Sox Bow Out

The Boston Red Sox apparently have taken themselves out of the bidding war for free-agent first baseman Mark Teixeira.  So what does that mean for the Washington Nationals?

Red Sox ownership sent out an e-mail Thursday night after meeting with the stud slugger, saying: "After hearing about his other offers, however, it seems clear that we are not going to be a factor."

If you believe that the Red Sox are really out of the mix, who is left?  It appears the Los Angeles Angels, New York Yankees, Baltimore Orioles and the Nationals are still playing ball with Teixeira's agent, Scott Boras.

The Nats made an eight-year, $160 million offer to Teixeira more than a week ago.  But since then word leaked that the Red Sox were talking eight years for $184 million.
