Bicycle Kick Earns Local Teen Big Honors

Curaca had never attempted the move

Gooooooooaaaallll of the year!

Arlington soccer player Marcus Curaca recently took home the title for Goal of the Year from US Youth Soccer for his incredible bicycle kick in a game during the Jefferson Cup in Richmond.

Curaca, who attends Yorktown High School, scored his highlight reel goal in the final minutes of a game in which his travel team, the Arlington Venom, needed to win.

With the match tied at 0-0, Curaca pulled out all the stops with a bicycle kick goal. Never mind that Curaca never tried the move before in a game, or even in a practice, he had the instinct to do it in a crucial moment of a big game.

The goal won the game, and eventually earned Curaca some high honors on a national level.
