The Next Big Culture War: Online Porn?

Did you really think Washington could stay focused on the budget? Attorney General Eric Holder is drawing criticism for moves to shut down a Bush-era task force to crack down on Internet porn. Sen. Orrin Hatch and 41 other senators -- including Sen. Joe Liebermann and Sen. Dianne Feinstein -- sent Holder a letter earlier this month asking that he bring criminal cases against "all major distributors of adult obscenity." Despite the ubiquity of online pornography, distributing porn online or by mail violates federal law if it violates community standards, is patently offensive and lacks merit. What that means is up to a jury.
