Amazon is warning Kindle users of a critical software update that needs to be installed before Tuesday, March 22.
After Tuesday, customers using outdated software on their Kindle devices will be unable to download books from the Cloud, access the Kindle store or use other Kindle services.
Users with Kindles not updated by Tuesday will receive the following message on their devices: "Your Kindle is unable to connect at this time. Please make sure you are within wireless range and try again. If the problem persists, please restart your Kindle from the Menu in Settings and try again."
Most Kindle devices update their software automatically — so this may impact only older devices or those that aren't frequently powered up and used.
To see which version of software you'll need to be running on your Kindle, and for more information on the patch, visit Amazon's website.
