2 Teens Injured in Carnival Ride Fall

Two teens were sent to a hospital after falling off a carnival ride at a church festival in El Paso Sunday night.

The two teens fell more than 12 feet from the ride at the Bazaar at Saint Anthony's Seminary after it became stuck, officials said.

Police said the swinging pendulum ride with two gondolas at each end was in motion at the bazaar when a door came open and the teenagers fell to the ground. It's unclear how far they fell.

The male and female 13-year-olds were hospitalized. Police said their injuries are not life threatening.

Texas Department of Insurance spokesman Jerry Hagins told the El Paso Times that the "Sidewinder" ride was insured and certified until April 2015.

Hagins said accidents are rare, but "do occur."
