Suspects in Carjacking Crash Car Into Pole in NE DC

A police chase that followed a carjacking in Silver Spring, Maryland, ended when the suspects crashed into a pole in Northeast Washington, police say. 

The incident began just after 10:30 p.m. Monday when the armed suspects carjacked a person in a parking lot on First Avenue in Silver Spring. The victim was not injured in the carjacking. 

Officers in Northeast D.C. noticed the vehicle in their area about an hour and a half later. Police say the driver of the vehicle refused to stop, and a chase ensued. The chase came to an end a short time later when the driver crashed into a pole in the area of Minnesota Avenue and Benning Road. 

Both the driver and a passenger were taken into police custody. 

Investigators have not said what charges they will face.
