A new report says the University of Virginia pays the highest average full-time faculty salaries in the state.
The American Association of University Professors released its annual faculty salary report Monday.
According to the report, U.Va.'s full-time faculty earns an average $109,400.
Washington & Lee's faculty salary came in second among state schools. The average salary there is $101,800.
At the University of Richmond, it's $99,100, while full-time faculty members at Virginia Tech earn an average of $89,400.
Nationwide, the report says part-time faculty appointments have outpaced full-time tenured or tenure-track positions.
Co-author and Hampden-Sydney College professor Saranna Thornton tells the Richmond Times-Dispatch that tenure-track positions are largely in fields where there's high demand from the private sector. text
