Police in Washington are investigating the homicide of a 28-year-old man who died of gunshot wounds in Southeast D.C. on Thursday evening.
D.C. Fire and EMS responded to reports of gunfire on the 800 block of Xenia Street at 5:16 p.m. Emergency responders found Mark Milline Jr. unconscious and suffering from multiple gunshot wounds and took him to a local hospital.
Milline Jr. was pronounced dead after life-saving efforts failed.
"I told him every day, if you go out, be careful," Mark Milline Sr. said.
Milline Jr. was struggling to find a job.
"He was a young man who was struggling trying to make it, trying to find a job, trying do the right thing," Volta Milline, his mother, said.
Police say two passangers got out of a BMW, walked up to Milline Jr. and shot him.

"I can see what other parents go through, and it hurts real bad," Milline Sr. said.
Police are looking for the suspects and are offering up to a $25,000 reward to anyone who can provide information on those responsible. Anyone with information can call 202-727-9099.
