A former Culpeper police secretary who pleaded guilty to forgery has avoided jail time.
Bethany Parr Sullivan, 56, of Orange received a five-year suspended sentence on Monday, the Culpeper Star-Exponent reported.
Culpeper County Circuit Court Judge Susan Whitlock also ordered Sullivan to submit to DNA testing and to be on good behavior for 10 years.
Sullivan pleaded guilty in March to forgery of a public document.
She was charged with altering the results of a police department applicant's entrance exam in May 2010. She was the police chief's secretary at the time.
Sullivan is the mother of Daniel Harmon-Wright, who was convicted of voluntary manslaughter in January. Police say he fatally shot an unarmed woman in 2012 while serving as a Culpeper police officer.
