Man Charged With Two DUIs in One Night: Maryland State Police

A man was arrested and charged with a DUI twice in one evening, according to Maryland State Police.

Felix E. L. Mateo was first arrested around 1 a.m. Friday on Route 193 eastbound near 23rd Avenue in Chillum, Maryland State Police Maj. Greg Shipley said.

Mateo was charged with impaired driving, and then he was released back to his wife, police said.

About two hours later, Mateo was seen again driving in the same area in a manner that suggested he was still intoxicated, Shipley said.

Mateo was stopped, arrested and charged a second time. Both times, his blood alcohol content was twice over the legal limit of .08, police said.

Mateo was one of 80 drivers arrested by state police in Maryland over the weekend. The arrests were made by the State Police Impaired Driving Effort team troopers. The SPIDRE program is a targeted effort to reduce alcohol related crashes in Maryland and was launched in May 2013.
