Rain Moves Into D.C. Area; Half an Inch Expected

Storm Team4 has declared a Weather Alert Day for Thursday.

Grab your umbrella! Moderate to heavy rain will fall across the D.C. area for most of the day Thursday.

The heaviest rain is expected between 8 a.m. and 4 p.m., prompting Storm Team4 to declare Thursday a Weather Alert Day.

The area could see half an inch of rain or more by the end of the day. The rain will still be falling when you get ready to head home, but Storm Team4 meteorologist Chuck Bell says it will ease up a bit.

Temperatures will stay in the low to mid 50s.

Friday's highs will be in the mid to upper 40s, which is pretty close to average for mid-December. But you'll need a heavy winter coat by nightfall. Wind chills will drop into the 20s Friday night. By Saturday morning, the entire area will be well below freezing; wind chills in the 10s and 20s.
