DC Apparently Still Has a Superintendent of Education Position

WASHINGTON -- The city moves fast.

We just learned the D.C. superintendent of education left her job, and we already have a new one.

Deborah Gist is leaving D.C. schools for a similar position in Rhode Island. Who is Deborah Gist you ask? We don't remember. We forgot all about the superintendent position after Michelle Rhee was named schools chancellor.

Mayor Adrian Fenty introduced Gist's replacement Wednesday afternoon: Kerri Briggs.

Remember that name, it's probably the last time you'll hear it.

She has 15 years of education policy and management experience and will remain comfortably out of the limelight. (Which is NOT an invitation to rip off the school system or the city.)
