Woman Pushing Stroller Hit by Car in Alexandria

Woman taken to hospital with serious injuries

A pedestrian was hit by a vehicle late Tuesday afternoon while pushing a child in a stroller in Alexandria.

The victim, a 34-year-old woman, was struck on the sidewalk as the result of a crash involving a truck and a car, authorities said.

Crews responded just before 5 p.m. to the intersection of Glebe Road and Commonwealth Avenue in Alexandria.

The woman was taken to a local hospital with serious injuries. The infant didn't appear to be hurt, but was was taken to a hospital for observation, police said Wednesday.

Three passengers from the sedan were also taken to the hospital with injuries, but are expected to be OK.

The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
