University of Maryland Students Petition Chick-Fil-A on Campus

Students and staff at the University of Maryland are petitioning to get Chick-Fil-A off the school's campus.

A change.org petition shows more  than 600 signatures asking the university to remove the fast food chain from the student union food court. More students and faculty members are expected to sign the petition when school begins at the end of the month.

The petition stems from Chick-Fil-A CEO Dan Cathy’s views on same sex marriage. The fast food chain recently received national publicity when Cathy told a Christian radio station he supports traditional marriage.

According to the the Diamondback student newspaper, Chick-Fil-A is still under contract with the University for this academic year. More than 580 students and staff signed the online petition.
