Two Killed in Tractor-Trailer Crash on Interstate 95 in Prince William County

Two people were killed in a crash involving a tractor-trailer on Interstate 95 in Virginia Thursday morning.

State police were called to the accident in the northbound lanes of I-95 at Exit 150 in Triangle, Va., shortly before 9:50 a.m.

The victims -- a driver and passenger -- were in a Ford Focus in the far left northbound lane when the driver lost control, police said.

Their car was hit by a flatbed tractor-trailer traveling in the center lane. Police said the impact caused both vehicles to travel back into the far left lane, where they hit a Honda Accord. The Focus and the tractor-trailer continued onto the left shoulder of the road, hitting a jersey barrier and eventually coming to rest against a guardrail.

The driver and passenger in the Ford Focus died at the scene. The drivers of the truck and the Honda Accord were not injured.

The northbound lanes of I-95 were closed for about three hours after the crash.

The victims' identities have not been released. They were wearing seatbelts, police said.
