Small Plane Crashes on Ocean City Coastline; Pilot Unharmed

A small plane made an emergency landing near the shoreline in Ocean City, Maryland, Tuesday evening.

Witnesses told Maryland State Police they saw the single engine plane glide toward the water as it went down about 6:15 p.m. The plane then floated toward the beach near 20th Street.

The pilot, 23-year-old Trevor Deihl, survived the crash unscathed. Deihl is from Reedville, Virginia.

Deihl told troopers he planned to land at the Ocean City Airport, but he started to have engine trouble and glided the plane into the ocean.

Maryland State Police are investigating.
