Silver Spring Man Charged in Attempted 2nd-Degree Murder of 2-Month-Old Son

Doctors said if the baby survives, he will have to remain on a ventilator for the rest of his life

A Silver Spring man is charged with the attempted second-degree murder of his two-month-old son.

Montgomery County Police say the baby, Amir Iman-Kouadio, was taken to Children's National Medical Center on Feb. 4, where doctors discovered that he was suffering from head trauma and rib fractures.

Police said the baby's father, Adou Louis Kouadio, was unable to explain how the baby was injured.

Kouadio, 24, told police that Amir's mother put him to bed around 9 p.m. Feb. 3. About five hours later, Kouadio woke up to hear the baby crying, took care of him and put him back to bed. Shortly after, he checked on the baby and found blood coming from his nose. He told Amir's mother, who called 911.

An arrest warrant was issued for Kouadio Feb. 20. He turned himself into detectives Friday morning.

Kouadio is also facing two counts of first-degree child abuse.
