A Virginia prisoner is back in jail after a brief escape and an interesting drink.
Wednesday afternoon, 32-year-old inmate Benjamin Wash was on work detail in a kitchen near Spotsylvania County’s Shannon Airport when he stole a bottle of hand sanitizer and began drinking it.
After supervisors confronted him, he ran out the back door and escaped.
Wash proceeded to run across the airport’s active runway, steal a car from an adjacent parking lot and speed away. Police caught Wash after a short chase and he was sent back to jail.
He faces a multitude of charges for his behavior, including a felony for stealing the sanitizer and a DUI for his subsequent driving.
